Moody weather days are great for when you yourself are feeling moody. It feels like some solidarity. A friend who is sharing in your glum state of affairs. Just a couple of glumdogs enjoying each other’s company. No words needed.
Overcast weather conditions make for a good companion because they're not trying to fix things. They're happy to let you sit there in your gloominess.
A low pressure system makes for a low pressure hang.
That's not to say they can't let you down though. Maybe the sun will start peeking through the clouds, or as has happened to me on occasion, the clouds will completely vanish and reveal a perfectly blue sky. When this happens, it can be hard to see it as anything other than a complete and utter betrayal.
You simply cannot believe the total lack of empathy.
The clear sky and sun suddenly beaming away at you, as if to say 'Why don't you just cheer up?'. To which you reply 'You have no understanding whatsoever of mental health and its challenges!' The weather quickly fires back, suggesting that you know shit all about weather either.
Both of you sit quietly for a while, not saying anything.
And then after some time, you notice that the sun feels quite nice on your face.
You sometimes wish the weather wasn't so unpredictable.
But for now, you decide to let it go and just enjoy the warmth.
Hope you enjoyed this little story. Just jumping in here with a quick note to say I’m planning on sending out some more place-themed posts coming up, specifically about Norway. I’m also working on a collab post which I’m incredibly excited to share in the coming weeks. And mixed in with all that, there’ll be the usual surprise thrown in too. More gardening metaphors maybe. Who knows.
It’s a bit like the weather. Highly unpredictable and hugely frustrating for everyone.
(Only jk).
As always, thank you for reading and for your support.
S.A.D. (DENED) to hear this devilish reverse psychology of moodiness! 🤣
